What is Gynaecological Oncology?

Gynaecological Oncology is branch of medicine specialized in cancers of female reproductive system. This branch of medicine is relating to etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of female cancers. Gynaecological cancers include the following cancers.

Cervical Cancer: That occurs in the cervix cells literally the neck of the womb, the part that connects with vagina. This cancer is usually seen in women from 30 to 45 years but rarely observed in 25 years.

Endometrial Cancer: Endometrial cancer occurs in the uterus or begins in the lining (endometrium) of the uterus cell. Uterine sarcoma cancer also begins in the uterus and this cancer affects women at any age but most commonly found during the post-menopausal stage.
Ovarian Cancer: This is a type of gynaecological cancer that occurs in ovaries, which can be observed at any between 50 to 60 years. In most of the cases ovarian cancers will not be detected until they are spread to abdomen and pelvis. Early stage of ovarian cancer is easy to treat than in advanced stages.

Vaginal Cancer: Vaginal cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the vagina. It can be cured easily if they are found in the early stages. There are two types of vaginal cancer they are squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma.

Vulva Cancer: This is a type of cancer that occurs on outer surface of female genital area, Vulva is the skin that surrounds urethra and vagina.
