Spirometry is a test used to assess how well your lungs work calculating how much you inhale and exhale. This spirometry is used to diagnose various diseases like Asthma, Chronic Obstructive pulmonary diseases etc.

Spirometry test is measured by airflow into the lungs and out. You are asked to inhale and exhale in a small machine to estimate the functioning of your lungs. The device records the speed of your breath and amount of air you breathe.

Spirometry is a pain less test to evaluate the lung functioning and the test takes about 10 minutes time. Sometimes the test is repeated if the result does not come out properly. FEV1 and FVC percentages are calculated to give the result. If the percentages are above 70 to 80 percent the test is considered as normal.

Person who is undergoing the spiromentry test is asked to avoid smoking the day before also avoid drinking alcohol to obtain sustained results. One should go for spirometry test with the comfortable clothing.
